Ferryside

Forcast looks strong so opt for Ferryside. Wind is WNW when I arrive and about 14mph. I waste no time setting up and then I'm off. Lift is poor and the air is a bit rough from the head land over Llanstephan but I boat around for 40 mins. I land when the wind drops and wait for 10 mins. the air feels strange, almost to light and has gone WSW. I decide to ground handle for a bit but the wing wants to fly so I oblige. This time the lift is good and I get good height. This is my first time flying with an alti-vario and it makes a big difference. I push out to the left further than I have done before and the reassuring beep from the vario tells me I'm still going up (slowly). Clouds start to form out in front at my height and rush past me. Over the back is starting to fog over and the wind at take off looks strong. With good height and plenty of landing options I decide to head towards Kidwelly to see how far I can get. I follow the ridge around and make it to Igoes, no lift here as there's to much west so I land. Just as I'm packing up Andy Wills arrives and offers me a lift back to take off. I show him the way to the farm and we head back to take off but it's now gusting to 22mph and covered in cloud. Game over.
Learnt some really useful info about the site today. The vario was worth every penny and I can't wait to put it to really good use. My first landing away from the hill (excluding fanG) and was another barrier knocked down. I've fallen in love with flying all over again. Smile
Heol Senni

My first time here and the walk up doesn't look to bad. I was wrong or I'm really unfit. I get to take off and the wind is 16-18. After a site debrief from the boys I get set up and then launch. The lift is strong but in small bubbles. Good climb rate but then you pop out the other side. There were a lot of wings in the air for quite a small ridge so I had a lot of short flights which was great landing practice. The wind dropped off so we all waited for restitution but it never came so had a nice top to bottom to finish off. Always good to see the guys out and an enjoyable day in the sun Smile
Ga good to see you at Heol Senni, it wasn't brilliant conditions today and HS can be awesome on the right day! Smile
Ga, every time I walk up HS i believe the placards proclaiming "The end is Nigh..."
